MyBarSales.com May Revenue Report –  COVID – 19 impact on the restaurant industry

MyBarSales doesn’t have to inform you that the coronavirus is affecting the restaurant industry.  We can however provide you with the actual data.  Instead of anecdotal information, we will provide the exact amount of pain that coronavirus is inflicting the State of Texas.

The bad news:

•    Governor Abbott is backtracking on his plan to open bars statewide causing extreme uncertainty

•    All major cities and counties were lower by more than 60% versus one year ago

•    Citizens are not following CDC guidlines

The good news:

•    Revenue in many cities increased by more than 100% versus April

•    Restaurants have found new ways to increase revenue

•    Restaurants have been encouraging new rules for patrons

Austin Sales Decrease 82% in May
The most recent MyBarSales report showed Austin with a decrease of 82% over the last month (vs. the previous year).  With the decrease in sales, Austin is down 76% in the last 3 months and lower by 15% in the last 12 months (vs previous year).  Top bars and restaurants include Matts El Rancho, Bombshells, The Park, Yard House and Steiner Steakhouse.

Dallas Sales Decrease 77% in April
Dallas alcohol sales are down more than 77% over the last month (vs. the previous year).  With the decrease in sales, Dallas is lower by 74% in the last 3 months and lower by 15% in the last 12 months.  Top bars and restaurants include Bombshells, Nick & Sams Steak & Fish House, Sidecar Social, The Rustic and Biernats.

Houston Sales Decrease 74% in April
Houston alcohol sales are lower by more than 74% over the last month (vs. the previous year).  With the decrease in sales, Houston is down 70% in the last 3 months and down 15% in the last 12 months.  The top establishments include Bombshells, Café Toulouse, Sams Boat and El Tiempo.
